Christmas Day was enjoyed by all volunteers and guests who were entertained by some very talented children, Madeleine on piano and Christmas Carols sang by Kaysha, plus Bingo with prizes! Here is some feedback from a few of our guests:
“I was made to feel welcome and treated with respect, I enjoyed the meal and talking to strangers listening to their side of life”
“The best part of the day was playing Bingo and listening to the music”
“Thank you for looking after me”
“I felt so low coming in, now I feel a bit better”
“Polite children taking time out of their Christmas Day to help others, Spiritual or what?”
“The day was exceptional, the warmth, the atmosphere and the food!”

So in my 7th year of volunteering it was an absolute pleasure to once again be the lead coordinator for the Cyrenians Christmas Day event 2022, which was held at the usual venue of Methodist Central Hall in Warwick Lane, Coventry.
This year we got to work with our new head chef Sue to provide our guests with their Christmas dinners and desserts. A huge thank you to Sue for your hard work and amazing cooking skills and to Jane, Kate and Mike who worked so hard in the Kitchen on the day too.
The day was a huge success, with up to 150 people in attendance, including our amazing volunteers. We managed to provide meals for over 100 guests as well as 12 takeaways and we gave out many goodie bags and gifts from our fantastic donation room.
I’d like to thank all of the volunteers who all worked so hard and efficiently to make it a special day for everyone. A big thank you to Katrina and Josh who once again helped to decorate the stage and rooms with wonderful Christmas decorations, trees and lights. It all looked so magical.
Thank you also to Ade and Lekan from the Methodist Central Hall for their support and kindness and of course a massive thank you to Jo Page who always works so hard to organise the event and last but not least, a huge thank you to everyone who donated food, gifts and money donations.
I look forward to planning the 2023 Christmas event, we are always looking at ways to improve the experience for our guests.
