25th January 2019

Congratulations go to Sophie Greener, our volunteer of the month for December 2018.

Sophie has been volunteering on Christmas Day for the last 4 years but this year she took over from Michael Wilson as the lead Volunteer Co-ordinator on the day at the Methodist Central Hall, which is a huge responsibility organising over 60 volunteers.  Sophie did an excellent job and we recieved lots of great feedback from other volunteers and guests on how well she managed.  She also got up extra early on Christmas Day to go into the BBC Coventry & Warwick Radio Studio to be interviewed about the day and encouraged anyone listening who didn't have anyone to share Christmas Day with to come and join them all at the Hall.

"Cyrenians are the most wonderful team of people I have met and so it’s no surprise that they shape such life-changing work. It’s an honour to be a part of what they do and I wouldn’t have my Christmas any other way. I have such joy volunteering with them and I am so grateful for the trust that they have in me to give me such exciting roles with real responsibility. Volunteering for the homeless and lonely means that I can spend quality time with people from different walks of life that I may not have been able to otherwise. Thank you for the most amazing five years. Here’s to another five!"
