Phil Smith 2

The course ran from October to December 2015 with a day of role play in January 2016 which involved the whole mediation process with a co-mediator, and volunteers and mediators playing the roles of the parties in conflict.  The course involved examination of cultural differences, stages of mediation, neutrality and bias, power imbalances, barriers to mediation, overcoming concern about on-going involvement, skills and qualities of a mediator, etc and contained regular peer assessment.

The Mediation training was funded by Comic Relief.

The certificate was presented by the Reverend Sam McBratney (Pictured with Phil Smith), lecturer in religion and social ethics at City University London.

Well done Phil!
