On Saturday 18th August, Jay Hughes and Neil Sharp set off cycling from Coventry to Land’s End in a bid to raise £1,550 for the homeless and vulnerably housed in Coventry and Warwickshire. As friends and keen cycling enthusiasts, they want to challenge themselves by making the daunting trip from the West Midlands to the most Southern point of the country.

Jay and Neil Aug 18They chose our cause as Jay cycles to work early every morning and sees with his own eyes the large number of people sleeping on the streets. Feeling like he wanted to do something about this, Jay applied his enthusiasm for cycling and turned it into a fundraising idea and asked fellow cyclist Neil to join him.

The event will lasted three days, and saw the pair set off from Coventry to cycle approximately 340 miles during this period, stopping off at three locations along the way overnight. They had a car following them as an aid along the way due to the high risk nature of the event they are undertaking.

Due to injury and some tough conditions, Jay was unfortunately unable to make it to the finish with Neil. In spite of this, we're all very proud of them - they are absolute heroes in our eyes.

We're delighted that they chose our cause and very grateful for the money they raised.
